  Title: Univited
Author: Sophie Jordan
The Scarlet Letter meets Minority Report in bestselling author Sophie Jordan's chilling new novel about a teenage girl who is ostracized when her genetic test proves she's destined to become a murderer.

When Davy Hamilton's tests come back positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome (HTS)-aka the kill gene-she loses everything. Her boyfriend ditches her, her parents are scared of her, and she can forget about her bright future at Juilliard. Davy doesn't feel any different, but genes don't lie. One day she will kill someone.

Only Sean, a fellow HTS carrier, can relate to her new life. Davy wants to trust him; maybe he's not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.
So I have been wanting to read this book since it came out, but kept putting it off. I LOVE Sophie Jordan. She is easily in my top three favorite authors, if not my number one. I did a review on her New Adult novel foreplay, which you can find HERE. But I went into this with high hopes and I was let down just a tad. Over all, though, I did really like it.

Things I liked:

  • Plot. Wow. Who thinks of something like this? The entire plot was just amazing.

  • Author. Like I said, LOVE her!

  • Characters. Sophie Jordan has a way with writing characters that I envy. All of her characters are so well rounded and amazing. Even the bad guys are great. I really loved Sean, though from other reviews, I see many didn't like him so much. And Jackson! I hated him, but it was because his character was so well written that I could hate him at the extent that I did!

Things I Didn't Like:

  • Unbelievable. I had a hard time believing this could actually happen at times. There were several moments when I just shook my head, because I knew it couldn't actually happen like that.
  • The ending. I know it is a series, but the ending was lacking something. For me, at least. I can't put my finger on what, but I fell that there could have been more to tie the book up.

  • The Title. The title made no sense to me. It gives you the impression that the book will be different. She is "uninvited" from the fancy school she attends, but that is only like a second of the book.

Will I Read The Next:

Yes.

Would I Recommend:

Yes. I would recommend if you are looking for a good future book that isn't dystopian.
