Don't Look Back Review

Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all-popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it's one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took "mean girl" to a whole new level, and it's clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She's getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she's falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn't just buried deep inside of Sam's memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

Samantha is back in a life that she doesn't remember and everyone keeps telling her things that she doesn't recall. Like her best friend Cassie, who is still missing, was with her that night that she went missing. Everyone is treating her like a china doll, but soon Samantha sees that she had quite a bit of enemies and can't remember how she got to be the bitch she has become. And it seems like the only people that are telling her the truth is her brother and his best friend Carson, who's family works for Samantha's.

I loved the characters in this book. I know every time I review a JLA book, I rave about the characters, but that is because she does so well with them. Espeically the guys. Carson was amazing and I was really hoping to hear she was doing a second book of this on the brother. The brother was one of my main suspects of killing Cassie through the book, but I was never really sure. That was one thing I loved about this book, instead of the others like it. Usually I guess, but deep down I know exactly who did it from like page one.

A common thing that I don't like in JLA is that the story kind of strings along. Like there are several scenes that I don't feel that are needed to keep the story going a lot of the time, and this story isn't any different. It doesn't bother me enough to effect the star rating, but it was just a bit frustrating when trying to finish a book and there are scenes that aren't needed.

Overall, I am giving this book a 4/5 stars. I would recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a good mystery.
